1. Framed vs. Frameless
a. Shower doors can be categorized by their frame design into framed and frameless types. As the name suggests, framed shower doors feature a surrounding frame-typically made of aluminum or aluminum-titanium alloy. While they are a more budget-friendly option, their substantial structural lines can create a sense of visual fragmentation and make the space feel somewhat cramped.

b. In contrast, frameless shower doors offer a sleek, modern, and minimalist aesthetic. They dispense with traditional framing in favor of hardware supports like stabilizer bars and hinges. This design maintains a sense of openness and airiness in the bathroom, though it comes at a higher price point.

2. Sliding Doors vs. Hinged Doors
Generally, shower doors are classified by their opening mechanism into sliding doors and hinged doors. People often debate which type is better; when making a choice, it is best to consider the available space. If the bathroom is small, a sliding door (on a track) is the most space-efficient option. Next is the hinged door, which swings open or closed; an inward-opening door is ideal for compact bathrooms as it does not encroach on the usable floor area and prevents water from dripping onto the "dry zone" floor. Conversely, an outward-opening door requires sufficient clearance to ensure it does not obstruct movement or create inconvenience.
