Shower enclosures are standalone bathing compartments constructed from materials such as tempered glass and acrylic. Designed to meet the needs of modern households with limited bathroom space, they offer features such as the separation of wet and dry areas, heat retention, and splash prevention. They are categorized by shape (e.g., corner units, curved designs) and by type (e.g., integrated units vs. simple enclosures). Tempered glass is the primary material used; however, as it carries a risk of spontaneous breakage, the national standard for shower enclosure glass-implemented in 2019-mandates the use of safety films or lamination to enhance safety.

China's shower enclosure industry is concentrated in three major production hubs: Zhongshan, Xiaoshan, and Foshan. Zhongshan serves as a manufacturing base, Xiaoshan boasts a comprehensive supporting supply chain, and Foshan is known for pioneering acrylic-based products. National standard GB/T 36266-2018 requires shower enclosure glass to undergo safety film application or lamination; meanwhile, acrylic is emerging as a new market trend due to the absence of spontaneous breakage risks.
